Cheryl Benford, Educator

From the sounds of it, Cheryl Benford was the kind of teacher who transcended her career by embracing both the daily grind and the artistry of being in education.

If you look at her “ratemyprofessors.com” listing, you’ll see a consistent trend: all her students thought she was a magnificent teacher and they all thought she was a tough teacher. To an educator, there isn’t a higher compliment.

In this episode of Goodbye Tulsa, we’ll hear from her former student, Mary Margaret Grewe, who shares her reflections from two unique perspectives: as a child, she was a student of Benford’s, and as an adult, she was her intern at Carver Middle School. Grewe credits Benford with not only demonstrating the power of a great teacher, but by also passing down the craft as well.
